Volunteers from Salisbury Rotary Club, the Chesapeake Housing Mission, and from Shore-UP live up to the motto "People Helping People" here in Fruitland.
I would like to extend a “Thank You” to the City of Fruitland and to its staff.
On Saturday, July 31st, 2010, thirteen volunteers from the Salisbury Rotary Club, the Chesapeake Housing Mission, and from Shore-UP built a wheel chair ramp for an elderly Fruitland woman who is a stroke victim. This woman has been in medical facilities since March of this year. Currently in Deer’s Head Hospital, this woman has been trying to get back home to her family and has been unable to accomplish this due to the lack of a wheel chair ramp and the resources to obtain this wheel chair ramp.
The volunteers completed fundraising to purchase the materials and this past Saturday built this wheel chair ramp. This ramp is now complete and in place.
Of all of the governmental subdivision that we have had opportunity to complete humanitarian projects, the City of Fruitland stands out as a shining example of “making things happen for the good of its citizens”. On behalf of all of us, I wish to extend a special thank you to the City and especially to City employees; Linda Powell and Joe Vogel for their expeditious and “make-it-happen” aide. Also thank you to the elected officials of the City Council (especially Council President Mr. Olinde) for their help in making sure that this opportunity to help one of its citizens happened.
Once again, thank you for providing “good working” government services for the benefit of people.
